Zonda R

Since 2006 Pagani was designing a pure race car, based on the Zonda F and more focused for track use. The request came from some owner, who wanted a more extrem Pagani Zonda without compromises like comfort features. During the realisation of the Zonda R the design was changed a few times till it was presented 2009. But also after the presentation 2009 were the rear wing and the air-intakes at the front bonnet redesigned.

All in all 3270 new parts including a carbon-titanium chassis, titanium bolts, racing seats with HANS standard and a XTRAC robotized gearbox helped to reduce the dry weight to only 1070kg.

The engine of the Zonda R is a 6,0l 12 cylinder with V 60° and dry sump instead of the known 7,3l 12 cylinder.

The length increased and bodywork includes a completely new front bonnet with larger oil-coolers and air-intakes, a air-scoop over the roof, a small air-intake for the rear brakes and a lower open rear to perform the aerodynamic downforce.

It was the first Zonda which was developed and produced without budget restrictions with the aim to construct the ultimate race car which they have perfectly proved. Only 15 Zonda R were produced and delivered.
